BOTTOMING FOR JESUS
a cabaret confessional by Michael R. Speciàle

An intimate exploration of holes…
and the lengths we go to fill them.

Meisner teaches that ‘acting is living truthfully under imaginary circumstances’—and Mormonism was mine
— Michael R. Speciàle

Bottoming For Jesus is an intimate solo performance weaving together storytelling, song, and spiritual absurdity.

Written and performed by Michael R. Speciàle, the show charts my path from self-converting to Mormonism at 15 through a kaleidoscope of queer becoming, cum jokes (yes), Judy Garland tributes (of course), and unvarnished truth about identity, faith, and belonging.

Part cabaret, part sermon, part TED Talk, Bottoming For Jesus invites audiences to laugh, weep, and witness one artist’s gloriously messy quest for meaning in the not-yet-hysterical future.

With direction by Spenser Theberge and musical direction by Jeremiah Ginn, Bottoming For Jesus is a raw and reverent offering—Queer Church for the end of the world.
